What topics are covered?
Coding Guidelines
Understand how to correctly interpret and apply ICD-10-CM, CPT®, and NCCI coding guidelines — one of the most heavily tested areas on the CPC® exam.
Correct Modifier Usage
Modifiers can make or break your coding. We’ll walk you through the most commonly misused modifiers so you know exactly when and how to apply them on the exam.
E/M Reporting
Evaluation and Management coding is notoriously tricky. We’ll cover Medical Decision Making (MDM) and consultations, the top 2 missed E/M concepts.
Anesthesia
Few students know that anesthesia reporting is more than simply picking a CPT® code! We’ll cover anesthesia reporting, as well as how to calculate units and payments, in depth.
Cardiovascular Procedures
Cardiovascular system coding is complex and difficult for even the most seasoned coders. We’ll walk you through pacemakers, selective catheterizations, and arterial studies.
Lesion Excisions
Lesion excision reporting takes size into account, but do you know how to calculate it correctly? We’ll cover proper reporting of lesion excisions, as well as skin repairs, like closures, grafts, and tissue transfers.
Maternity Deliveries

ICD-10-CM, CPT®, & HCPCS Manuals
Bring your own physical or eBook copies. Current year books are recommended, but prior year books are acceptable. No additional materials are required.
Webcam & Microphone (Live Only)
Our CPC® Exam Prep program is live and interative! We want to see your smiling faces, so we require a working webcam and microphone setup, with your camera on when you join.

What is the CPC® Exam Prep program?
Our CPC® Exam Prep is an 8-hour intensive exam preparation program designed for students and professionals who are planning to attempt the CPC® exam in the next 30-60 days. In other words, this program hones your skillset and provides you practical exam strategies and tips before the big day.
Taught by an AAPC approved instructor, CPC® Exam Prep covers the 10 biggest coding concepts that students fail to reach passing scores on, such as E/M reporting, cardiovascular procedures, and excisions. Your instructor will guide you through hands-on coding practice, share their own personal insights about exam day, and help you to boost your confidence before your upcoming attempt at the CPC® exam.
Who can attend the program?
We welcome students who have learned the basics of medical coding (regardless of where or how they studied the skillset) and uncertified professional coders who are looking to obtain a CPC®. Additionally, we recommend that attendees have scheduled or plan to schedule their CPC® exam about 30-60 days following the program.
The CPC® Exam Prep program does not teach medical coding basics! If you’re just starting out, please check out our beginner-friendly programs.
What exactly will I learn from the program?
Over 8 hours, your instructor will cover the top 10 coding concepts that the majority of students lose points on, plus a few bonus topics selected by the instructor. These topics include coding guidelines, modifiers, E/M, Z codes, colonoscopies, anesthesia, lesion and tumor excisions, pacemakers, catheterization, arterial studies, chemodenervation, and maternity deliveries. In addition, your instructor will cover her top exam strategies that she’s used to pass 5 credential exams on the first attempt!
Can I complete the program at my own pace?
Yes, we offer a self-paced version of the CPC® Exam Prep program that can be viewed on your own schedule. You’ll still receive all of the benefits of the live program, minus a live instructor.
Does the CPC® Exam Prep program award CEUs?
The program does not award CEUs, but we are working to offer more CEU programs! Browse our CEU workshop offerings.
